Red-flowered viper's grass

Scientific name: Echium russicum 
It is a remarkable species, with unique flowers for its genus. From July until August, we can admire the shiny-purple flowers which appear from a basal rosette of hairy leaves. The great number of flowers makes for an impressive view, while the spear-shaped leaves abundantly decorate the stems in bloom. It prefers hayfields or semi-dry areas as habitat, but can also be found in orchards, bushes. It blossoms in June and July.
