Eastern pasqueflower

Scientific name: Pulsatilla patens
It is a wild spring flower that has hairy leaves and bell-shaped dark purple solitary flowers. It blooms in March-April and the flowers appear as the leaves are barely starting to grow; the stems are only 4-5 cm in height. The leaves are hairy and silver in colour. It is difficult to tell it apart from other related species due to the great resemblances between its flowers and those of the mountain pasque flower (Pulsatilla montana), a common species in our country. It prefers rocky grasslands.
