Scientific name: Serratula
lycopifolia
The name of the genus, serratula, means saw in
Latin and comes from the rough-teeth aspect of the plant’s leaves. This plant
has a special aspect due to its unique dishevelled-looking flower, aspect
caused by its long and thin petals. The flower is placed at the top of a 50-100
cm tall stem. Because of habitat destruction, this species is very rare and can
only be found in 3 places in Romania, one of them being the 2000 Cheile Turzii
Nature Site.
