Bullhead

Scientific name: Cottus gobio
It is a fish species typical for mountain rivers and streams, with an elongated and thick body and a big flattened head that is greater than the body. The eyes are of medium size, looking upwards. The body and the head have no scales. The total length ranges between 8 and 12 cm. The reproduction period is that of March – April. Its nourriture is composed of insect larvae, roe and fish sapling, tadpoles. Mating takes place at the end of February, when the temperature of the water increases over 12°C, until April – May.
