Scientific name: Circaetus
gallicus
It is a predatory bird, having a light colour,
average dimensions and a wingspan of 162-178 cm. In Romania, it prefers dry
rocky mountains, where it abundantly finds its favourite prey - reptiles.
Generally, it builds nests in forests, but for hunting it needs wide open
spaces. The nests are placed in trees, rarely on rocks.
