Peregrine falcon

Scientific name: Falco peregrinus
It is a bird of prey with short tail, wings wide at their basis and narrow at the top, with a robust silhouette compared to other falcons. In normal flight, it has an average speed with frequent wing beats, but when it follows its prey it quickly speeds up and proves its extraordinary agility. It is one of the quickest birds in the world, reaching 300 km/h in free dive. It hunts medium-sized birds, small mammals, reptiles and insects. This species has made a strong comeback after it reached to point of extinction 40 – 50 years ago.
