European nightjar

Scientific name: Caprimulgus europaeus 
It is a nocturnal bird of average size. It measures between 24 and 28 cm in length, while the wingspan is 52-59 cm. It uses forest habitats for feeding and nesting. It prefers biotypes of conifers (pine) with sandy soils, but it can also be found roaming the mixed or open deciduous forests with meadows and clearings. It nests on the ground. It feeds on large insects caught in flight, at sundown or during the night. The flight is slightly arched, very agile and completely silent.
