Hampei beetle

Scientific name: Carabus hampei
It belongs to the Coleoptera order, having an elongated body of around 25-40 mm in length. The colouring is very varied, from black to blue, lilac, copper, with a weak luster. This beetle can be found in the thick layer of dried and decomposing leaves, in the beech and oak tree forests, and less in the coniferous ones. It spends the winter in rotten tree trunks or among leaves. Mating takes place from May to June. The larvar growth lasts until the end of August. It feeds on snails and earthworms, on ground level.
